How to Use Country Calling Codes
To make an international call:
- Dial your country’s international exit code (often 00 or 011, or simply use the + symbol on mobile phones).
- Dial the **Country Calling Code** from the list above for the country you want to reach.
- Dial the local phone number, usually omitting the leading zero if there is one.
Example: To call a number in the UK (code +44) from the US (exit code 011), you would dial: 011-44-[Local UK Number]. On a mobile, you’d dial: +44-[Local UK Number].
What About ISO Country Codes?
While this list focuses on calling codes used for phone numbers, you might also encounter ISO country codes (like US/USA for the United States, GB/GBR for the United Kingdom). These are two-letter (Alpha-2) or three-letter (Alpha-3) codes used for things like website domain endings (.us, .uk), shipping labels, and international standards, but they are *not* used for dialing phone numbers.
